A terrible account of a young girl’s contact with Chris and Clare Godson in Ireland. Andrea’s Mother contacted us and her words are a clear indication of the danger posed by Chris and Clare Godson.
I have avoided using my name to protect my identity, but my story is real, my pain is real, and all of the people and events are real.
Much of who I am today is because of the cult members who raped me (on the instructions of Chris and Clare Godson) and the things they forced me to do and the torture that I endured when I was 14.
I have found that the more people I tell, the easier it gets to tell people.
And the more detail that I tell, the better I feel. That is why I wrote this story, to put it all in one place………………….

I worked for the Godsons at weekends. I was their babysitter!
One terrible day they accused me of stealing. I had no way of knowing that this was a cruel and calculated charade.
I was interviewed by someone on the phone that claimed to be a detective.
He had her (Clare Godson) strip search me, and her husband then had his cult converts continue the strip search for hours, forcing me to do all kinds of sexually humiliating things.
I was eventually forced to “perform a sex act” on Chris Godson.
All the time this degrading torture was at the direction of a phony police officer on the phone. (Kelleher Newsdesk suggests that the measure of protection received by the Godsons indicates that the officer may have been the real thing).
This happened in 2000.

Having been accused of stealing by Clare Godson.
She tearfully agrees to the search, not realizing that it would entail searching not only her belongings, but also her clothes, body and body cavities. This search goes on for hours and escalates to them raping her vaginally, orally, and anally.
They recorded the entire search on video for use as “evidence” as well as taking pictures on a digital camera.
There can be no doubt as to how dangerous and deceitful Chris and Clare Godson are.

Multiple Offenders:
ReplyDeleteIn almost all the cases the victims reported numerous offenders. The numbers ranged from two to six offenders depending on the trusted circle established by Chris and Clare Godson in the area. In one recent statement the victim alleged 10 offenders were involved. Interestingly many of the offenders (perhaps as many as 40-50 percent) were reported to be females. The multiple offenders were often family members and were described as being part of the Godson cult or prayer group.
Fear as Controlling Tactic:
The Godsons were able to maintain control and ensure the secrecy of their victims in a variety of ways. These include attention and affection, coercion, blackmail, embarrassment, threats, and violence. In almost all of these cases I have studied, the victims described being frightened and reported threats against themselves, their families, their friends, and even their pets. They reported witnessing acts of violence perpetrated to reinforce this fear (vicious beatings of the Godson daughter).
It is my belief that this fear and the traumatic memory of the events may be another key to understanding many of these cases.

The Godsons say "criticizing them is to go against God.”
Another giveaway about this cult, Paul Kelleher said, is when groups like the Godsons teach that anyone who leaves them is flawed.
Healthy groups generally believe people can have good reasons for leaving. Not so with cults, he said. Chris and Clare Godson routinely resort to anonymous poison pen letters or blackmail against people leaving their group. They have been known to extort vast sums from the lonely and vulnerable.

‘Leader’: Colin Batley arrives at court where he is accused of leading a cult and running bizarre sex ceremonies
A 15-year-old schoolgirl was intimidated into joining a shadowy cult where she was used as a sex toy, a jury heard.
Colin Batley, 48, is accused of being the ‘evil’ cult leader who first had sex with the child in an occult initiation ceremony.
The victim was then summoned to bizarre sex ceremonies where cult members would don robes while their leader read from a sacred text, the court was told.
She was convinced she would be murdered by cult members if she did not join its ranks and take part in the ceremonies.
The accused cult members all lived in a cul-de-sac in Kidwelly, West Wales, where Batley, is accused of having sex with the schoolgirl to initiate her to the cult.
Once initiated, she is said to have been passed around as a sex toy, with the cult leader calling her to his service with a click of his fingers, the court heard.
Batley would allegedly read aloud from occult text the Book of Law during the ceremonies.
The girl, who cannot be named, gave evidence today via video link in the trial at Swansea Crown Court, in South Wales.
She frequently sobbed and was forced to look away as she told how she was intimidated into becoming an unwilling cult member.
Six people including Batley deny a total of 46 sex offences starting at addresses in London and eventually transferring to Kidwelly.

Leader Colin Batley, 48, allegedly used four women to find him victims while organising three-in-a-bed sex sessions.
He used his position to rape both boys and girls, to make children engage in intercourse together and to persuade the women to join in, the court was told.
He said: ‘He (Batley) is the principal. The four families became closely intertwined, that is common ground. It became much more than that, a cult.
‘The usual restraints went out of the window. Some took part in wife swapping.’
The five defendants deny a total of 33 charges, including rape, indecent assault, forcing a girl to work as a prostitute and inciting a child to have sex.
It seems that these cults/groups almost work to a set formula:
1. buy a number of houses in a quiet sleepy place (Benevent l’Abbaye in this instance) and people them with recruits/converts;
2. start-up some enterprises that will draw in new contacts suitable for sex or financial fleecing;
3. lots of advertising and promises of employment;
4. threats and blackmail directed at anyone who threatens the continuing cycle of abuse;
5. draw in local politicians and law enforcement with “inducements;”
6. pretend to be squeaky clean and try to gain acclaim by charitable interests…………

It certainly appears that the Godsons are on the “hunt” for the young family that has been talking to Kelleher Newsdesk about “activities” in the Benevent l’Abbaye area.
However, these interrogations have not helped the Godson case.

Our Central France correspondent had the opportunity to interview the wife of an English garage/vehicle repair business owner and received some very valuable insights into Clare Godson and her somewhat unpleasant ways.
Paul Kelleher is communicating with journalists in Thailand to find out exactly what was going on when the Godsons were "missionaries" in that beautiful country. Paul has also been interviewing other victims of the cult.

What are some signs of sexual abuse?
ReplyDeleteSome children who are being sexually abused function quite normally and do not have any obvious symptoms. Others have only general symptoms that could indicate a variety of other problems related to growing up. The most certain way to know about abuse is when individuals report it.
Some physical conditions may indicate sexual abuse. If a child has bruises or bleeding in the genital or anal areas, foreign bodies in the vagina or rectum, pain or itching in the genital area, stained or bloody underclothing, painful discharge of urine, or difficulty walking or sitting, they should be examined by a physician. It is important not to make accusations of sexual abuse because any or all of these conditions may have other causes, and a missionary’s reputation and effectiveness can be destroyed by a false accusation.
Some behaviors may indicate sexual abuse. Children who force sexual acts on others, talk a lot about sexual activity, engage in sexual games unusual for children their age, have an unusual knowledge of sexual things, engage in sexually aggressive behaviors, have an unusual interest in sexual things, or have an unusual fear of men may have been sexually abused. Again, any of these may have other causes, and accusations must not be made on the basis of them alone.

The most commonly reported types of abuse by female perpetrators include vaginal intercourse, oral sex, fondling and group sex (Faller, 1987; Hunter et al., 1993). However, women also engage in mutual masturbation, oral, anal and genital sex acts, show children pornography and play sex games (Johnson, 1989; Knopp and Lackey, 1987). The research suggests that, overall, female and male perpetrators commit many of the same acts and follow many of the same patterns of abuse against their victims. They also do not tend to differ significantly in terms of their relationship to the victim (most are relatives or close by membership of a cult). (Allen, 1990; Kaufman et al., 1995).

Kidwelly paedophile ring developed into 'quasi religious cult,' jury told

FIVE defendants standing trial charged with sex offences against children were members of a "quasi religious cult", a jury was told.
Swansea Crown Court heard it was alleged that the "bizarre" group were closely entwined, and had moved to neighbouring properties in Clos yr Onnen in Kidwelly from London.
In addition, a sixth defendant, Vincent Barden, 70, who denies one count of rape, lives in Bedfordshire.
Prosecutor Peter Murphy QC, said the group was allegedly led by "principle defendant" Colin Batley, 48, and the cult "was used as an excuse to justify" their behaviour.
The co-accused are his wife Elaine Batley, 47, Jacqueline Marling, 42, Sandra Iveson, 45, and Shelly Millar, 35.
Mr Murphy said it was the prosecution's case that the abuse was against five complainants, all of whom cannot be identified for legal reasons.
All of the defendants have denied a total of 46 charges between them.
Rape
Yesterday Mr Murphy informed jurors that Barden, of Kempston, Bedfordshire had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault on a child.
Colin Batley, who faces multiple charges of rape, buggery and possessing an indecent photo of a child, is also accused of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and indecent assault.
"He is, say the Crown, an evil and manipulative sexual predator," said Mr Murphy.
"He's preyed on the young and vulnerable."
He added that Batley and his wife had indulged in wife swapping when they were younger and in reference to the alleged offences, Colin Batley had corrupted others and had been described as a "control freak" and a manipulator.
Justify
"Some form of quasi religious cult developed involving all of these defendants," said Mr Murphy.
"The Crown say that was used as a vehicle to justify and excuse sexual activity between themselves and sexual assaults to children."
Mr Murphy said that in the course of the trial, jurors would hear about the Kidwelly group of five, allegedly reading from "a Book of the Law", and holding a cult meeting where they "donned hooded robes" and sex acts were performed on both Colin Batley and Jacqueline Marling.
He added that all four women bore tattoos as a sign of the cult.
Colin Batley and Marling also face a charge of "causing prostitution", while in addition Marling is accused of sexual activity with a child, gross indecency and aiding and abetting a rape alleged to have been committed by Colin Batley.
Barden is accused of one charge of rape alleged to have been aided and abetted by Colin Batley.
Elaine Batley and Millar both face separate charges of offences of gross indecency and sexual activity with a child, while Iveson also faces a charge of gross indecency.
The trial continues.
A new development!

We understand that the group propose April or May for this trip.
Of course, we doubt that the party will want to stay in the Godson “Christian” B&B.

A brief outline of the arrival of Chris and Clare Godson in Benevent l’Abbaye:
ReplyDeleteThey arrived in the Spring of 2004 and immediately purchased ten properties in Benevent l’Abbaye. The bulk of these properties are occupied by cult members. Two properties are reserved for the purpose of “Christian” gites. One large building contains the “pilgrim dormitory” and a “Christian” B&B.
In addition some adherents of the cult purchased other dwellings in the centre of Benevent l’Abbaye. Most of the buildings contain deep cellars (cave in France) and given the previous history of the Godsons in the USA and Republic of Ireland the future/present use of these dungeon-like spaces causes anxiety to Kelleher Newsdesk.
Shortly after establishing themselves they mounted a huge advertising campaign for their gites, B&B, fosse septiques etc. All the advertising blatantly stated that they had been “missionaries” and a great many Christian websites were targetted by Chris and Clare Godson……to attract vulnerable pilgrims and the elderly retired ex-pat community.
Following their previous agenda in the USA and Ireland they set about ingratiating themselves with families that had impressionable girls in the puberty stage. Their preferred target is the 12yo to 15yo range.
During this time because she is very mentally disturbed Clare Godson also repeated (very successful in the USA and Ireland) her vicious campaign of anonymous poison pen letters against anyone who might threaten the existence of her abusive paedophile cult.
These poison pen letters were invariably sent in envelopes bearing Clare Godson’s handwriting. Almost immediately Kelleher Newsdesk became aware of the presence of the Godsons in Benevent l’Abbaye resulting from the advertising campaign and the helpful presence of several retired journalists in the area.
The Godsons had disappeared so rapidly from Ireland we were very fearful they might never be caught for their abuse and other alleged crimes. We note that an Irish neighbour died in very mysterious circumstances after raising the alarm about Godson “activities.”
Police raids in May on other members of the cult have drawn increased media scrutiny.
The Godsons have been touring their “circle” of friends in France to find the “leak.” They have been quite menacing to those who they perceive as weak links. The cult itself has changed its name with every new scandal having originally been rooted in the USA cult (The Family).
It is worth looking up this cult (The Family) on the internet to understand our legitimate concerns about what Chris and Clare Godson are up to, again, in France. France has some laws that cover abusive/paedophile cults like that operated by the Godsons.
The Godson name was, we understand, originally Soden.
At the moment I am making contact with journalists in Thailand where the Godsons also made their presence felt!

Most contributors believe a secure facility and advanced types of medication to be the answer. We will be publishing those comments we consider to be most helpful!
In addition we have be contacted by people in the Limousin expressing gratitude for our warnings about the Godson enterprises and making a decision to go to other providers.
A young girl has written to us saying that she became very aware of the worrying attentiveness of the Godson couple and how they seemed to want to involve her with more and more “activities” and offered “sleep overs” if the journey back home became too late.

ReplyDeleteWe have received some fragmentary reports of their time in Thailand. Apparently they were “politely” asked by the authorities to leave as their behaviour was regarded as “inappropriate.”
At this time in the 90′s the cult was transforming from the “Children of God” into “the family” and was routinely sending young girls out on to the streets to draw in converts with the overt offer of underage sex.
The senior cult members saw themselves as “missionaries.”
The majority of cult members were from the USA and the young girls sent out as bait were the daughters of USA cult members in the main.
The cult set up missionary camps and “schools.” The cult also interested itself in orphanages for Thai girls.

The three victims, known as Victim A, B and C, all gave evidence describing how their daily routines were punctuated by random acts of bizarre and sadistic violence at the hands of their “prayer group” leader in Ireland. Since this testimony the perpetrator has moved to France and established a “Christian” B&B and “pilgrim” dormitory.

ReplyDeleteThe way in which this case is reported it is almost as though these acts were viewed as just slightly left of normal… when will the authorities start viewing crime from the victims’ points of view rather than empathising with the criminals? This woman is very damaged and should never have been allowed to look after children.

The roots are a dysfunctional family where the daughter is routinely starved of true affection and abused in all probability by both parents. The child is probably sent to a minor girls boarding school where she is bullied and in turn becomes a vicious bully, working off all her mental hang-ups on younger vulnerable girls. Low self-esteem and mediocre academic results push her into a search for power over others and she reaches for a sick USA cult that promises to turn things around. This cult becomes a haven for her as she is able to develop her bullying techniques and exert an oppressive mind control over vulnerable people (often much more intelligent than herself).

She continues to work-off all her mental health problems (having been committed to a mental health institution a few years back) by creating an atmosphere of suspicion, bitterness and malevolence in every community she settles in. A totalitarian movement, or a cult of the Godson type, hinders the child to develop into a fully responsible adult and citizen. The cult denies the child’s right to his identity, his personality, a structure, an intellect and a critical thinking.
ReplyDeleteThe guru creates a fictive or virtual world in which the child is locked into as if it lived in a videogame where the leader decides all the rules. The child becomes robotized and cannot move without the cult as a prothesis. If he one day dares to leave the cult, he has no identity, no past of his own and is more or less stateless.
It is very difficult for a child who has grown up in this weird, close, manipulative cult-world to become a normal citizen again. What is considered right and wrong for most of us isn’t at all that obvious for a former cult-member. After having been taught that the world is black and white, it is difficult to learn how to choose. The brain has to start to work again. However, the brain is like a muscle and, even after years of slumbering, it can be trained to think critically again. But, for a child that has grown up in a cult, he has to relearn almost from scratch what our democratic societies stand for, basic human rights, womens’ and childrens’ rights, morals, just to mention some basic rules.
Trust is another problem for the former member. After years of indoctrination that the world outside the cult is “evil”, after having been tricked by the cult-leader, the former member must learn to trust himself, to trust society and to trust other people.

For about 3 years I was on friendly terms with Clare Godson in Ireland. This was a friendship I regret bitterly. I witnessed things that made me cringe. Uncountable times I witnessed her take a stick and beat her two kids (the youngest was 6) across the top of their hands, for falling asleep during prayers. That is not punishment but cruelty. If they cried due to the pain, Clare would take her crying child and really work them over downstairs.

An expert on cult recruitment methods says the Kidwelly sex cult could have turned up in any community.
Ian Haworth, general secretary of the Cult Information Centre, said the group led by Colin Batley appeared to show many of the classic traits.
"Sadly it's something I've heard year after year in the 32 years I've worked full time in this field," he said.
"People fall under the control of the leader who does with them as he chooses and they will obey orders accordingly."
Mr Haworth has worked as a full-time specialist, consultant and expert witness in cultism since 1979, informed by his own experience as a former member of a cult.
He told BBC Wales that cult leaders often used techniques such as food and sleep deprivation to break people down.

It’s the accumulation of wealth that brought America’s older population into the sights of America’s cults. The financial stakes can be enormous for anyone, especially for those who have little hope of rebuilding their life’s saving once they give all they have to some group.
Peter Georgiades, a Pittsburgh attorney who has represented dozens of families in efforts to recover funds given to cults like that operated by Chris and Clare Godson, has seen firsthand the destruction such bodies can cause seniors. “I get two to six calls a week from people who have lost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. When the claims are small I tell them to get a local attorney and settle for what they can get,” says Georgiades, who rarely takes a case under $100,000.
“I know of a number of cases in which people have impoverished themselves,” says Herbert Rosedale, a New York lawyer who has handled numerous cult cases. “It runs the gamut from people who were solicited to make six-figure donations to those who have nothing but their Social Security checks to give.” Bottom line, according to Rosedale: “It’s devastating – both to individuals and to their families.”
One example Rosedale cites involved a very successful older businessman who took part in a seemingly innocuous management discussion group. “As it turned out,” Rosedale says, “it was a front for a very aggressive cult. And before he knew it the man had turned over all of his retirement savings in exchange for a series of business courses. He couldn’t tell his adult children. In fact he wouldn’t under any circumstances, let us tell his children or elicit their help in recovering his funds. He was literally terrified that they would find out and he would lose their respect.”
Slipping beneath the radar is an art for people like Chris and Clare Godson (Benevent l’Abbaye) who know just how to present themselves and not reveal the true nature of their cult. The Colin Batley trial in Swansea shows just how long people of the Godson type can keep going with their depraved lusts/beliefs. I think the cult that I was in was run by Clare Godson, the descriptions trigger terrible memories, they were some sort of distorted “Christian/psychic” thing. I believe it was just a cover up for them to act out their sadistic pedophile fantasies. They seemed very organized. I suddenly feel very ill when I think of that time in my life!

A non-senior cult insider believes the Benevent l’Abbaye group/faction have buried the cache of semi-automatics they brought by ordinary ferry from Ireland in 2004. This burial was done comparitively recently because the leadership fears a police/gendarmerie raid following all the media interest! Using their in-house digger they have buried the arms on their land close to Benevent l’Abbaye with the intention of making themselves appear “normal” and squeaky clean. The leader of a Satanic sex cult is facing a lengthy jail sentence after being found guilty of multiple counts of rape and child abuse.
Colin Batley, 48, exercised absolute control over his sect in a seaside cul-de-sac – abusing and exploiting helpless children as ‘sex toys’ for more than a decade.
He was found guilty yesterday of 35 sex offences against children and young adults. Yet social services were alerted to Batley’s child abuse in 2002 – and took no action.
As a consequence, the former Tesco security guard was allowed to continue ‘preying on the young and vulnerable’ for a further eight years – with the full support of wife Elaine.
At their semi in Kidwelly, South Wales, he would dress in hooded robes, chant before an altar and then orchestrate or participate in group sex with his female followers, including Jacqueline Marling and Shelly Millar.

There would be chanting, which would always end in group sex.
Children, boys and girls as young as 11, were also ‘initiated’ – repeatedly sexually abused in other words – during ‘Black Masses’ at Batley’s home. There were at least five victims that we know of, but police believe there could have been many more.

This disturbing story begins not in Wales, however, but more than 200 miles away in East London. Batley, from Shoreditch, had a string of jobs including work as a Tesco security guard and on a fruit-and-vegetable stall.

Such was Batley’s control over his wretched ‘coven’ that they had to pay him 25 per cent of their income.
Every time Millar entertained a client, she would send Batley a text message to tell him how much she had been paid. She had sex with more than 3,000 clients over a two-year period, making about £2,000 a month, a quarter of which went to him. It explained how Batley, officially unemployed, could afford a £45,000 caravan and frequent holidays abroad.
Batley would later claim that he moved to Wales for health reasons – to escape the smog. A claim rather undermined by the fact that his coven also relocated to the principality. Police believe there was another reason for the exodus; they suspect that other members of the cult – who have not been identified – were based in Wales.

The victim, now in her twenties, told the court: ‘I did not want him to do what he was doing, but I did not have a choice because what Colin said happened........ What Colin said went.’
Intimidation on a truly horrific scale by this cult:

Another victim, now in her thirties, said she was forced to have sex with Batley when she was 15. She was also ordered to perform sex acts on his wife and other men and women. ‘I was told I’d be killed if I didn’t become part of the cult,’ she said. ‘Colin Batley had a gun and brought it to meetings. I was so scared I just did what I was told. I was in the living room at his home and he told me there would be an initiation. I was called upstairs. Elaine was there. He would just snap his fingers and say, “Strip”.’
She said that on one occasion when she was 16, she was made to have sex with a boy of 15 – as Marling filmed them.
The girl was told she would be murdered by ‘cult assassins’ if she did not give in to Batley’s demands. Through a video link, she sobbed as she told how she was taken to other addresses by Batley where she had sex with other men.
Warnings about the Godson Cult in Benevent l'Abbaye continue to go unheeded:

The witness recalled how Batley promised to set him up with a girl and directed him to a dark bedroom. Once inside, he got into bed and then realised that the other person lying beside him was Elaine Batley.

The Batleys had four children, one of whom, Damian, died of strangulation three years ago when a bizarre sex game went wrong. He was found hanging from his bedroom door at the family home and had been filming himself.
Finally, last year, one of Batley’s victims went to the police. It was one of the girls he had impregnated as a teenager. She said she feared he might target her own child.
Batley was tipped off about the police inquiry and, by the time he was arrested, had destroyed potential evidence. But officers found home-made films of two of his victims on his camcorder. Interviewed 11 times by detectives, he steadfastly maintained his innocence.
The jury did not believe him. They saw him for what he was – ‘an evil and manipulative sexual predator’ who had used the cult and ‘black magic’ as a cover for his own perverted ends.
In Ireland we have strong testimony that Chris and Clare Godson were even more manipulative and evil, and that they were "tipped off" by corrupt Gardai involved in their cult.

Highly suspicious, they may feel conspired against, spied upon or cheated, or maligned by a person, group, or governmental agency. Any real or suspected unfavorable reaction may be interpreted as a deliberate attack upon them or the group. (Considering the criminal nature of some groups and the and social behavior of others, some of these fears may have more of a basis in reality than delusion).
Harder to evaluate, of course, is whether these leaders’ belief in their magical powers, omnipotence, and connection to God (or whatever higher power or belief system they are espousing) is delusional or simply part of the con.
Megalomania–the belief that one is able or entitled to rule the world–is equally hard to evaluate without psychological testing of the individual, although numerous cult leaders state quite readily that their goal is to rule the world. In any case, beneath the surface gloss of intelligence, charm, and professed humility seethes an inner world of rage, depression, and fear.
Of course, Chris and Clare Godson routinely claim that investigations into their "activities" are malicious! They claim that the vast body of testimony and witness evidence against them is based in malicious envy of their "higher powers" and understanding. They claim that the well-founded allegations of sexual abuse of underage and teenage girls is, again, malicious. They claim that the purchase of ten properties in Benevent l'Abbaye was merely to house "friends" and offer shelter to pilgrims!

Lack of Remorse, Shame, or Guilt in Chris and Clare Godson:

Rage and abuse, alternating with token expressions of love and approval, produce an addictive cycle for both abuser and abused, as well as create a sense of hopelessness in the latter. This dynamic has also been recognized in relation to domestic abuse and the battering of women. The cult leader acts out with some regularity–often privately, sometimes publicly–usually to the embarrassment and dismay of his followers and other observers. He may act out sexually, aggressively, or criminally, frequently with rage. Who could possibly control someone who believes himself to be all-powerful, all-knowing, and entitled to every wish, someone who has no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for the impact on those around him? Generally this aberrant behavior is a well-kept secret, known only to a few disciples. The others only see perfection. These tendencies are related to the psychopath’s need for stimulation and inability to tolerate frustration, anxiety, and depression. Often a leader’s inconsistent behavior needs to be rationalized by either the leader or the follower in order to maintain internal consistency. It is often regarded as divinely inspired and further separates the empowered from the powerless.
Promiscuous and predatory Sexual behavior in the Godson Cult:

Conversely, there is often stringent sexual control of the followers through such tactics as enforced celibacy, arranged marriages, forced breakups and divorces, removal of children from their parents, forced abortions or mandated births. For psychopaths, sex is primarily a control and power issue.
Along with this behavior comes vast irresponsibility not only for the followers’ emotions but also for their lives. In one cult, for example, multiple sexual relations were encouraged even while one of the top leaders was known to be HIV positive. This kind of negligence toward others is not uncommon in the psychopath’s world.
Marital fidelity is rare in the psychopath’s life. There are usually countless reports of extramarital affairs and sexual predation upon adult and child members of both sexes. The sexual behavior of the leader may be kept hidden from all but the inner circle or may be part of accepted group sexual practices. In any case, due to the power imbalance between leader and followers, sexual contact is never truly consensual and is likely to have damaging consequences for the follower.
The lifestyle and wealth of Chris and Clare Godson:

Our couple of charlatans in Benevent l’Abbaye propose bowing and prostration and the kissing of feet from their followers as a sign of total surrender.
This is presented as a direct command from Yahweh, and takes the biblical description of authority to such a level that the Godsons are left with total control of all aspects of the victims’ lives. The victims are then conditioned to believe that only in such total surrender to the leader will they truly be free or happy.

ReplyDeleteAn easy determinant of whether or not a group has a cultic and abusive leader is to observe his actions toward one who has left the group.
If those who leave remain quiet, and do not voice their knowledge of the workings of the group, the leader concocts his stories about why the person left, and will leave it at that. If, however, the person speaks up about the abuses he suffers, or tries to impart that information to another person who is at risk for the same type of treatment, that person is immediately demonized. Character assassination, interspersed with a voiced concern for the escapee’s spiritual (or mental) health, follows. Since the facts coming out cannot be refuted, the leader resorts to ad hominem attacks and immediately counsels others in his sphere of influence not to have contact with the vocal escapee.
This is very much a tactic of Clare Godson who is known to have hounded anyone she perceived as a threat in the USA and Ireland. Still very much under investigation is the death of a neighbour in Ireland who was taking an interest in the large number of young girls visiting the Godson house and the arrival of older male converts!
He voiced his suspicions! He died in a horrific road accident!

Clare Godson sent out over 30 poison pen letters and presented herself as the safe guardian of the young girl. A year later the girl told her family about the depraved and deviant sexual activities orchestrated by Clare Godson. The hapless family found themselves under threat of attack by Godson accomplices..............
In the end they were forced to move, and change all their contact numbers and addresses. The local Gardai made little or no effort to protect the family from Clare Godson.

Speculation about the cult from which Chris and Clare Godson derive their inspiration:
ReplyDeleteThe Family they’re refering to is “The Children of God” cult founded by David “Moses” Berg. Since Berg’s death in 1994 he’s been accused by family members of all kinds of deviant sexual behavior included of course pedophilia. If Berg’s group did have wealthy “patrons” as they say then you could probably surmise that River Phoenix would’ve been seen as a threat. Bad conspiracy theory or is there something to this.
The fatal overdose of River Phoenix on Halloween night leaves hanging a host of questions concerning his death. Why is it, for instance, that three days later medical examiners announced that autopsy tests were inconclusive – but ruled out foul play. If the cause of death was unknown, how could the coroner possibly dismiss the possibility of murder? Toxicology tests revealed that the morphine levels of the cocaine and heroin ingested by Phoenix were respectively lethal. The day after he overdosed, the question reverberated on Hollywood streets: “Who killed River Phoenix?”
The conclusion that Phoenix died of an accidental overdose seems premature. No one knows how the narcotics were administered. No needle marks were found. The identity of his supplier is known. He is not some shadow melting back into narco-obscurity.
Media interest in the Family was eroded by false reports that Argentine prosecutors had been hamstrung by a lack of medical evidence. In fact, the death of River Phoenix coincided with investigations of the Family spreading across Latin America. The last thing the cult needed was a popular junkie film star shattering the news vacuum in the U.S. media by expanding, in some Hollywood fanzine, on his sexual initiation in a cult with notorious international political connections.
In fact, River Phoenix had a reputation for talking too much.
Here’s the quote – “I’m glad I did it when I was young, but I didn’t want those & different body parts that were in my face to make me perverse when I was older, so I blocked it all out. I was completely celibate from 10 to 14. You’re just born into that reality, and you accept it.”
In the press, the Phoenix family has distanced itself from Berg’s flock, emphasizing their separation from the Children of God. “We were flower children,” John Phoenix (River’s father, who refuses to tell reporters his true name) told People magazine in September, 1987: “We were full of faith and loved everybody.” John Phoenix was so deeply rooted in the cult that he was named “Archbishop of Venezuela” by the group. Rainbow Phoenix, River’s sister, told Life in August, 1987 that she debuted as a performer at South American shopping plazas. “We used to sing and hand out pamphlets,” she said. “But after two years in Venezuela, the family wanted out of the cult.” Arlene Phoenix, River’s mother, complained, ‘the guy running it got crazy. He sought to attract rich disciples through sex. No way.’”
The veneer of bohemian innocence was shattered in 1991 when, in Details magazine, River recalled his childhood in the cult. He admitted in this interview that he had intercourse at age four and sex with other children until the age of 10.
River Phoenix violated the cult’s stricture of secrecy by discussing his early sexuality with reporters. Two years later, on All Hallow’s Eve, at the most critical period in the Family’s history, he was poisoned with a drug overdose. Had he lived, River Phoenix could have proven to be a dangerous liability to the cult, confirming reports of sexual abuse and child prostitution circulating throughout South America, but largely snubbed by the domestic press. ReplyDeleteThey have given us some excellent advice for our DRAFT Guidelines about coming into contact with Chris and Clare Godson.
We shall undoubtedly be revising these guidelines from time to time in order to help visitors to Benevent l’Abbaye and La Creuse stay safe.
Guidelines for the B&B, gites, “pilgrim dormitory and fosse septique enterprise:”
1. avoid talking to the Godsons about daughters or grand daughters;
2. avoid giving the Godsons information about your close family;
3. use only a disposable “throw away” email address when in contact with the Godsons;
4. use only a disposable “throw away” mobile phone number;
5. victims suggest using a POST BOX as an address for the Godsons, using your correct address increases vulnerability;
6. the Godsons are notorious for their high pressure “follow-up” telephone calls and emails, be extremely cautious;
7. the Godsons are notorious for pushing the devis/estimate and then using the pressure of “we have already drawn up plans and gone to considerable expenditure on your behalf” ploy to secure the commission, they are very adept at “moral” pressure;
8. the Godsons are notorious for hidden extras and high pressure sales;
9. avoid staying in the B&B and if necessary take a night in the gites;
10. lock the doors of your gites or rooms in the B&B or put a chair against the door during the night;
11. avoid the “hearty breakfast” as Clare Godson uses this to obtain information about clients and their families;
12. if you are a single person (male/female) on the pilgrimage make sure that your family or friends have your itinerary and are aware of a stop with the Godsons and the possible implications;
13. avoid discussing religion or religious beliefs;
14. secure your bank cards and cash in a money bag on your person;
15. do not leave information about your personal details or family in the gite or B&B when absent;
16. refuse any lifts/transport offered by the Godsons;
17. do not allow the presence of “seemingly normal people” in the Godson household to relax your guard, the Godsons use recruits/converts to lull victims into a very false sense of security……

People were queuing up with old scores to settle when we started to interview people in the Benevent l’Abbaye region.
This is an exact repeat of the situation in Ireland with neighbours and victims clammering to confirm the depravity of Chris and Clare Godson!
We are aware that a small number of the allegations may turn out to be simply bad-mouthing and exaggeration.
However, I have with dispassionate precision studied the testimony of victims and find common factors in the statements about Chris and Clare Godson that confirm to my satisfaction the cruelty and sexual abuse endemic in this cult.
The evidence is overwhelming and victims from different areas and countries have confirmed the general formula used by the Godson couple to increase their cult membership, increase their own funds at the expense of vulnerable individuals, and increase their chance of drawing-in impressionable teenage girls to do their bidding. The victims also independently give accounts of their use as virtual “slave labour” or introduction to child prostitution with payments going directly to Clare Godson. The formula and accounts all bear witness to a cynical and cruel set-up.
Kelleher Newsdesk called me in to give an independent assessment of the Godson cult so that they could not be accused of prejudice in their media coverage of Chris and Clare Godson. I have seen many cults of this type in the last twenty years of study and the Godsons combine hydra with chameleon leaping from country to country, concealing their activities and changing the cult/prayer group/organization name with every move!

ReplyDeleteFrom the moment the Police hammered on Colin Batley’s door in Kidwelly the media took up an interest in the “activities” of Chris and Clare Godson, now settled in the sleepy little town of Benevent l’Abbaye.
The comparison between the two cults is obvious except that the Godsons run a much more professional organization adept at cloaking its true nature.
The debate centres on whether they are cults set up with the express intention of exploiting converts and the vulnerable or whether they drifted into wrong-doing and depravity by accident!
The Crown Prosecution Service certainly believed that there was enough evidence of child prostitution and abuse to convince a jury. The jury did not convict on the basis of some “nutters” mumbling obscure texts and wearing silly robes! The jury convicted because the statements of the victims were compelling and showed common factors that were convincing. Wearing silly robes is not a crime! Raping little girls is a crime and the jury heard the evidence in silence. Pushing young girls into child prostitution and living from the proceeds is a crime! The victims of Chris and Clare Godson present similarly compelling testimony.
Batley’s victims extend from Shoreditch to Kidwelly. The Godsons have left a trail of destruction in the USA, Ireland, Thailand, Cambodia, Norway, Canada and have now set out their wares in sleepy Benevent l’Abbaye. Clare Godson says the statements of victims are motivated by malicious envy of her “spiritual development.” She blames everyone around her for “leaking” cult secrets. It is a simple fact that the money for all the properties in Benevent l’Abbaye (14 houses at least) came from the proceeds of child prostitution and fleecing vulnerable pensioners/converts. The exploitation of the vulnerable has been conducted on an industrial scale by Chris and Clare Godson.
Of course, the Godsons deny these well-founded allegations and call the victims liars…….
We at Kelleher Newsdesk are exploring the types of treatment available for the psychotic leaders of the cult and consulting with recognised cult experts on how to WARN people about this cult in Benevent l’Abbaye.
In the main it seems that the worst recorded abuse took place in Ireland where the Godson couple seem to have run amok.
They seem to have found a place that took little notice of “comings and goings” for a long time. Eventually the Godson couple created a near impregnable network of political and police/gardai protection. They became so confident that they were recruiting and abusing young girls under the noses of the authorities with little criticism. A neighbour took an “unhealthy” interest in what they were up to and paid the price with an unsolved and mysterious death. The Godsons still confidently carried on in Ireland until a rapid departure to France in 2004. It seems that they were tipped off that a serious investigation into their “activities” had been authorised at Ministerial level in Dublin Castle.
When the police hammered on Colin Batley’s door did they realise the level of abuse and depravity that had taken place in the recent past? Lets face it, very few people are aware of the horror story that is Chris and Clare Godson.

People like the Godsons find situations that are tailor-made for exploiting the vulnerable: singles bars, ship cruises, foreign airports, religious groupings, providing accommodation to weary travellers, parent-teacher meetings etc.
In each case, the potential victim is lonely, looking for a good time, excitement, or companionship, and there will usually be someone like the Godsons willing to oblige, for a hidden price.
“Accueil Pelerin” is the sign attached to the Godson van in Benevent l’Abbaye suggesting a “safe” refuge for the weary pilgrim walking to Spain. “The Godsons find situations that are tailor-made for exploiting the vulnerable”…………it is well worth repeating this warning over and over again!
Know yourself. The Godsons are skilled at detecting and ruthlessly exploiting your weak spots. Your best defense is to understand what these spots are, and to be extremely wary of anyone who zeroes in on them. Lets face it, the Godsons were “missionaries” in USA shopping malls looking for wealthy/lonely pensioners to fleece! They have not changed!
In developing the cult they found a rich vein of easy money coupled with adulation for themselves, they are reluctant to give it up!

“I believe it is important to ensure that the Godson’s history is publicized in any location they they move into so that innocent people are given full and clear warning.
I would hope that that warning would be sufficient to deter any new members. Many would consider that you and other ex-members following the organization and publicizing their past crimes to be persecution of the group, but I consider it justified in this case because they are not willing to look at their past, correct their practices and protect their children.”

Godson and his coterie in Benevent l’Abbaye, although secretive about their core “activities,” do not keep a low profile in the little “sleepy” French town where they have re-established their cult/prayer group.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, rather than keeping things quiet, as you might expect people with a criminal past to do, the Godsons purposefully draw attention to their string of seedy enterprises and advertise their fraudulent “missionary” status without shame. A vast number of websites broadcast the Godson “entrapment” enterprises to an English, French, Belgian, Dutch and German audience. The so-called “pilgrim dormitory” has become the flagship enterprise as the septic tank installation business is dropping like a stone.
Godson apparently regularly provoked the ire of neighbours in Ireland who objected to the suspicious “comings and goings.”
Amongst whom was the lady next door, an outraged woman whose house was positioned in-between Godson’s and one of his cronies’ houses.
She and her husband kept a close watch on what went on there. Her husband died in a mysterious vehicle accident after raising the alarm about the presence of “underage” girls and pervy looking men visiting the Godson home. They don’t seem to have been too impressed by the explanations of “spiritual” improvement given by the Godson couple.
The neighbour was interviewed in the local press and described regular conflict between her and the Godson couple involving a procession of complaints to the police and the local authority. The Godsons have bought over 12 properties in Benevent l’Abbaye and have stationed an “odd set” of converts/recruits in all the buildings. Many of these recruits seem to work on the plumbing/renovation enterprises for negligable pay and look “spaced out” with vacant un-focussed expressions.

The cult owns the B&B, a “pilgrim dormitory” and several “pilgrim” gites.
The owner is a woman who uses the name Clare Godson. She’s eager to do business. She leads the group through the seedily decorated hall, with its tired flowery wall-paper, and up a back staircase to meet some girls for hire.
And when she says they’re girls, she means it literally: young girls, younger than we even imagined.
Our investigators make a quick exit!
The owner looks dumbfounded!

In opening his lecture in New York, Paul Kelleher told the audience that “slavery was alive and well, and this is what this investigation has essentially been about,” he said.
“The two main cult leaders were playing a role in a degrading activity producing untold misery. Human trafficking, where it exists, exploits the impoverished, the young and the socially disadvantaged.”

“This couple not only abused these two girls themselves but also demonstrated how they were prepared to cynically exploit the vulnerable for profit by trafficking them into prostitution.

Such individuals are authoritarian personalities who attempt to compensate for their deep, intense feelings of inferiority, insecurity, and hostility by forming cultic groups primarily to attract those whom they can psychologically coerce into and keep in a passive-submissive state, and secondarily to use them to increase their income.”
The Godson Cult in Benevent l’Abbaye:
Cultism usually involves some sort of belief that outside the cult all is evil and threatening; inside the cult is the special path to salvation through the cult leader and his teachings.
This is very much the approach adopted by Chris and Clare Godson and one aspect of their “addiction” to cult formation and power over recruits to the cult.
Another aspect is their “hard faced” acquisition of property and wealth at the expense of vulnerable people. They are motivated by greed to a very great extent!
The indoctrination techniques used by the Godsons include:
1) Subjection to stress and fatigue, slave labour and prostitution;
2) Social disruption, isolation and pressure, deliberately excluding concerned relatives from contact with new recruits;
3) Self criticism and humiliation;
4) Fear, anxiety, and paranoia;
5) Control of information;
6) Escalating commitment, this means handing over vast sums of money to the leadership for “good works” that is often used to increase the “property portfolio” of the cult founders;
7) Use of auto-hypnosis to induce “peak” experiences.
Just how do the Godsons continue to market their cult of depravity and cruelty?
It is true that the cult leader or religious founder often shows signs of brain disease, such as hearing voices or having delusions of grandeur.
But the followers need not be mad. Some are undoubtedly deranged, but most probably are not. The cult leader must be extremely attractive to those who convert. He or she must satisfy a fundamental need, most likely the need to have someone you can totally trust, depend on and believe in: someone who can give sense and direction to your life; provide you with purpose and meaning. But above all, life with the messiah and the other cult members must satisfy some fundamental need. Some studies have found that a significant number of cult members are depressed before joining, and the cult lifts their spirits, makes them feel much better. Even if they aren’t depressed, cult membership must be more satisfying than life in the real world with one’s real family.
The Godsons are deeply paranoid themselves:
Cult members may gradually become paranoid and be led to believe that the government, their family, and former friends can’t be trusted. They may gradually become more isolated and militant. They may even begin to stockpile weapons for the coming Armageddon. They may turn themselves over completely to their savior and be willing to kill or die for him or her. This is not to say that they are leading meaningful lives, but they are not necessarily lunatics, morons, or zombies.
And, at this point it is appropriate to worry about the stock-pile of semi-automatic weapons hidden/buried by Chris and Clare Godson somewhere close to Benevent l’Abbaye. We understand from disaffected former cult members that the weapons were obtained in Ireland from the many paramilitary sources available.

Naïve Cult Leader: A cult leader who is largely unconscious of their status as the leader of a cult, and who may not be intentional in their misuse of power. Most cult leaders start off as completely naïve, and remain so during the early evolution of the cult. Cult leaders are not immune to cultic process, however, and will tend to evolve into maleficent leaders with regard to misuse of power—even if they remain ignorant of the cultic nature of the group they are leading.
Naïve cult: A cult with completely naïve leaders, lieutenants, and members. Most cults begin as naïve cults, and never develop past the mixed cult stage. Pathology in early stage naïve cults may be as trivial as confusion and inefficiency in organizational processes.
Maleficent Cult Leader: A cult leader who intended to create a cult and who is fully aware of and intentionally engages in the unethical use of power afforded by his or her position.
Malignant Cult: A cult whose primary leader and lieutenants are aware of the cultic nature of their group and who also intentionally benefit from the unethical use of power afforded them by cultic process. There may be a large core of maleficent lieutenants and members, and a well-developed, formal structure for imposition of thought reform techniques. Misuse of power in these cults often results in catastrophic results for members and sometimes for people who engage them only casually, briefly, or incidentally. Examples of malignant cults with maleficent leaders include: the Godson Cult (now based in France) and Scientology.
Mixed Cult: A cult whose primary leader is completely or somewhat naïve: Mixed cults may have at their core a group of lieutenants who are maleficent. Membership is usually ignorant of the cultic nature of their group. May function as a malignant cult.

I believe that cults are started by people who long to feel important. Cult leaders remind me of power-stricken people who are angry and have had no love in their life. Often these people have an underlying mental illness and/or personality disorder. Cult members are expected to worship their leaders and see them as the “ever so important and intelligent” ones. Narcissism comes to mind.
Cult leaders are not stupid by any means.

Guidelines for the B&B, gites, “pilgrim dormitory and fosse septique enterprise:”
1. avoid talking to the Godsons about daughters or grand daughters;
2. avoid giving the Godsons information about your close family or their places of work and education;
3. use only a disposable “throw away” email address when in contact with the Godsons;
4. use only a disposable “throw away” mobile phone number;
5. victims suggest using a POST BOX as an address for the Godsons, using your correct address increases vulnerability;
6. the Godsons are notorious for their high pressure “follow-up” telephone calls and emails, be extremely cautious in your response and do not relax your guard;
7. the Godsons are notorious for pushing the devis/estimate and then using the pressure of “we have already drawn up plans and gone to considerable expenditure on your behalf” ploy to secure the commission, they are very adept at “moral” pressure;
8. the Godsons are notorious for hidden extras and high pressure sales, the Godsons rely on the politeness of their target customer and pile on EXTRAS;
9. avoid staying in the B&B and if necessary take a night in the gites (again, we advise a chair or heavy object against the door to warn you if the Godsons are attempting entry during the night;
10. lock the doors of your gites or rooms in the B&B (put a chair against the door during the night);
11. avoid the “hearty breakfast” as Clare Godson uses this to obtain information about clients and their families;
12. if you are a single person (male/female) on the pilgrimage make sure that your family or friends have your itinerary and are aware of a stop with the Godsons and the possible implications;
13. avoid discussing religion or religious beliefs;
14. secure your bank cards and cash in a money bag on your person (we have received information that the Godsons use “missing items” as an opportunity to “assist” guests);
15. do not leave information about your personal details or family in the gite or B&B when absent;
16. refuse any lifts/transport offered by the Godsons, do not accept opportunities to sight see places in la Creuse with the Godsons;
17. do not allow the presence of “seemingly normal people” in the Godson household to relax your guard, the Godsons use recruits/converts to lull victims into a very false sense of security;
18. be aware that blackmail is one way that the Godsons exert power over their recruits/converts so avoid being alone in a compromising situation with any of the girls who “help out” in the Godson establishment;
19. if you are threatened by the Godsons, false accusations of inappropriate behaviour with the girls who “help out” are a speciality, take the matter immediately to the local gendarmerie. The Godsons rely on your embarassment to weedle cash out of you………………………..do not become a VICTIM. DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM!
20. do not be surprised to find that the Godsons arrange a tap on your door from one of the teenage girls who “help out” and do not be flattered into making any costly mistakes, the Godsons are adept at this kind of pressure!

I was interviewed by someone on the phone that claimed to be a detective.
He had her (Clare Godson) strip search me, and her husband then had his cult converts continue the strip search for hours, forcing me to do all kinds of sexually humiliating things.
I was eventually forced to “perform a sex act” on Chris Godson.
All the time this degrading torture was at the direction of a phony police officer on the phone. (Kelleher Newsdesk suggests that the measure of protection received by the Godsons indicates that the officer may have been the real thing).

Offenders of the Godson type control the victims, once they are in the pipeline, through a combination of bonding and peer pressure, not to mention old-fashioned blackmail. Chris and Clare Godson use the embarassment of the young girls to prevent the victims communicating the abuse they have suffered to even close friends.

We shall undoubtedly be revising these guidelines from time to time in order to help visitors to Benevent l’Abbaye and La Creuse stay safe.
Guidelines for the B&B, gites, “pilgrim dormitory and fosse septique enterprise:”
1. avoid talking to the Godsons about daughters or grand daughters;
2. avoid giving the Godsons information about your close family or their places of work and education;
3. use only a disposable “throw away” email address when in contact with the Godsons;
4. use only a disposable “throw away” mobile phone number;
5. victims suggest using a POST BOX as an address for the Godsons, using your correct address increases vulnerability;
6. the Godsons are notorious for their high pressure “follow-up” telephone calls and emails, be extremely cautious in your response and do not relax your guard;
7. the Godsons are notorious for pushing the devis/estimate and then using the pressure of “we have already drawn up plans and gone to considerable expenditure on your behalf” ploy to secure the commission, they are very adept at “moral” pressure;
8. the Godsons are notorious for hidden extras and high pressure sales, the Godsons rely on the politeness of their target customer and pile on EXTRAS;
9. avoid staying in the B&B and if necessary take a night in the gites (again, we advise a chair or heavy object against the door to warn you if the Godsons are attempting entry during the night;
10. lock the doors of your gites or rooms in the B&B (put a chair against the door during the night);
11. avoid the “hearty breakfast” as Clare Godson uses this to obtain information about clients and their families;
12. if you are a single person (male/female) on the pilgrimage make sure that your family or friends have your itinerary and are aware of a stop with the Godsons and the possible implications;
13. avoid discussing religion or religious beliefs;
14. secure your bank cards and cash in a money bag on your person (we have received information that the Godsons use “missing items” as an opportunity to “assist” guests);
15. do not leave information about your personal details or family in the gite or B&B when absent;
16. refuse any lifts/transport offered by the Godsons, do not accept opportunities to sight see places in la Creuse with the Godsons;
17. do not allow the presence of “seemingly normal people” in the Godson household to relax your guard, the Godsons use recruits/converts to lull victims into a very false sense of security;
18. be aware that blackmail is one way that the Godsons exert power over their recruits/converts so avoid being alone in a compromising situation with any of the girls who “help out” in the Godson establishment;
19. if you are threatened by the Godsons, false accusations of inappropriate behaviour with the girls who “help out” are a speciality, take the matter immediately to the local gendarmerie. The Godsons rely on your embarassment to weedle cash out of you………………………..do not become a VICTIM. DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM!
20. do not be surprised to find that the Godsons arrange a tap on your door from one of the teenage girls who “help out” and do not be flattered into making any costly mistakes, the Godsons are adept at this kind of pressure!

I’d like to think most decent people are at least aware this is going on right under our noses. “Dirty old men” know this is happening because they are the source of income and fuel the entire “industry.” Pimps like the Godsons know it is happening because they are the ones realizing the profit. Where are the parents – brothers – sisters – and friends of these girls? The “decent” strangers who simply see another human being in trouble? Are the victims afraid to go to law enforcement?
Has our society degenerated so much that we really just don’t have the time to be worrying about people like Chris and Clare Godson?
If every person exposed to someone in a situation like this would just take action and see it through – the “activities” of this cult could not continue to exist.
Think about it. What does it say about “us” – as an individual – and as a world society – that evil cults like this are actually allowed to even exist???

The girl was a teenager when first recruited into the underworld life of this pseudo-Christian cult.

Often these people have an underlying mental illness and/or personality disorder. Cult members are expected to worship their leaders and see them as the “ever so important and intelligent” ones. Cult members may gradually become paranoid and be led to believe that the government, their family, and former friends can’t be trusted. They may gradually become more isolated and militant. They may even begin to stockpile weapons for the coming Armageddon. They may turn themselves over completely to their savior and be willing to kill or die for him or her. This is not to say that they are leading meaningful lives, but they are not necessarily lunatics, morons, or zombies.

Just how do the Godsons continue to market their cult of depravity and cruelty?
ReplyDeleteIt is true that the cult leader or religious founder often shows signs of brain disease, such as hearing voices or having delusions of grandeur.
But the followers need not be mad. Some are undoubtedly deranged, but most probably are not. The cult leader must be extremely attractive to those who convert. He or she must satisfy a fundamental need, most likely the need to have someone you can totally trust, depend on and believe in: someone who can give sense and direction to your life; provide you with purpose and meaning. But above all, life with the messiah and the other cult members must satisfy some fundamental need. Some studies have found that a significant number of cult members are depressed before joining, and the cult lifts their spirits, makes them feel much better. Even if they aren’t depressed, cult membership must be more satisfying than life in the real world with one’s real family.
It would be very difficult to find a more intelligently phrased analysis of the mental state of the Godson couple and their evil cult than the paragraph below:

Godson and his coterie in Benevent l’Abbaye, although secretive about their core “activities,” do not keep a low profile in the little “sleepy” French town where they have re-established their cult/prayer group after a very hasty departure from Ireland in 2004.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, rather than keeping things quiet, as you might expect people with a criminal past to do, the Godsons purposefully draw attention to their string of seedy enterprises and, until quite recently, they would advertise their fraudulent “missionary” status without shame. A vast number of websites broadcast the Godson “entrapment” enterprises to an English, French, Belgian, Dutch and German audience. The so-called “pilgrim dormitory” has become the flagship enterprise as the septic tank installation business is dropping like a stone.
Godson apparently regularly provoked the ire of neighbours in Ireland who objected to the suspicious “comings and goings.”
Amongst whom was the lady next door, an outraged woman whose house was positioned in-between Godson’s and one of his cronies’ houses.
She and her husband kept a close watch on what went on there. Her husband died in a mysterious vehicle accident after raising the alarm about the presence of “underage” girls and “pervy” looking men visiting the Godson home. They don’t seem to have been too impressed by the explanations of “spiritual” improvement given by the Godson couple.
The neighbour was interviewed in the local press and described regular conflict between her and the Godson couple involving a procession of complaints to the police and the local authority. “It was a brothel in every possible way and the clients were clearly attracted to the twelve year old girls that stayed over at the Godsons,” she said.
The Godsons have bought over 12 properties in Benevent l’Abbaye and have stationed an “odd set” of converts/recruits in all the buildings. Many of these recruits seem to work on the plumbing/renovation enterprises for negligable pay and look “spaced out” with vacant un-focussed expressions.

In Thailand today, women and children are oppressed, abused, exploited, and degraded by society. Daughters of poor families are often sold into prostitution. Some parents sell their children because they need the money for food or dope. Many parents are “duped” into selling their children and do not realize the lives their children will lead. The parents don’t understand the danger of HIV/AIDS!
They don’t understand how prevalent are sexually-related diseases, and how they are a death sentence for children in the sex industry. According to recent UNAIDS statistics, out of a total population of 60 million people in Thailand, 755,000 are living with HIV/AIDS.
“In April 1988 Chris picked up a bug in the camp and suffered badly with hepatitis. Making no progress after six weeks in a Bangkok Clinic, he was sent home, jaundiced and two stone underweight.”

Paul Melnick-Brogan contacted us last year. He feels it very necessary to communicate the unhappy experience his family had with Clare Godson in Ireland:
ReplyDelete“my fourteen year old daughter became absolutely dominated by Clare Godson. I don’t know anything about the paedophile stuff. My experience was that we gradually LOST our daughter to them. She gave up all her musical interests and picked fights with friends.
Eventually, I snapped! Anger had been building up in my ex-wife and myself for months. I banned my daughter from seeing Clare Godson.
We had every imaginable temper tantrum! Our daughter even attempted suicide.
This “ban” was followed by an extraordinary campaign of villification by Clare Godson. Clare Godson circulated anonymous poison pen letter throughout our village area claiming that we sexually abused our daughter. This was a totally terrifying experience and it has taken seven years to recover from the evil influence of Clare Godson.
Clare Godson exhibits extreme paranoia and sets upon anyone who crosses or slights her. We thought we were a unique case until we came across this Blog.”

I think that if you study the article below you will see why our fears about Chris and Clare Godson are well-founded.
ReplyDeleteWe have been contacted by a number of families in La Creuse who have been the subject of an aggressive campaign by Chris and Clare Godson to ingratiate themselves.
The families all have one factor in common! They have young daughters, young impressionable daughters, just entering puberty. The daughters are offered “unofficial” jobs for “pocket-money” at the Godson gites and B&B. Clare Godson puts on her respectable mum cloak…..and the daughters go nearly mad wanting to make a bit of independent money.
The parents have a nagging sensation that something is wrong but are swept away by the determination of the daughters.
AND, of course, it all ends in tears.

The man who allegedly abducted Jaycee Lee Dugard, the girl kidnapped nearly two decades ago who was found alive in the US yesterday, is a religious fanatic who claimed that God spoke to him, acquaintances have said.
Phillip Garrido, 58, a convicted rapist and sex offender, is being held on kidnapping and sex charges relating to the disappearance of Ms Dugard, who was 11 when she was snatched from a bus stop in 1991.
His wife, Nancy Garrido, 54, was also arrested, and authorities have alleged that she was with Mr Garrido when Ms Dugard was kidnapped in South Lake Tahoe.
The reappearance of Ms Dugard, now 29, stunned America when the news broke yesterday morning – her kidnapping had caused a national media frenzy – but the elation soon turned to anguish when the horrific details of the abuse she has suffered became clear.
Mr Garrido allegedly raped Ms Dugard and fathered two children with her, the first when Jaycee was about 14. Along with Ms Dugard, the children, both girls who are now aged 11 and 15, were also kept hidden away from the world in the backyard compound of the Garrido house in California.
Fred Kollar, an under-sheriff at the police department in El Dorado County, where Ms Dugard was held captive, said: “None of the children have ever been to school, they’ve never been to a doctor. They were kept in complete isolation in this compound.”
People who know Mr Garrido said that he had become increasingly fanatical about his religious beliefs in recent years, sometimes breaking into song and claiming that God spoke to him through a box.
ReplyDeleteIt was also reported that he held religious services in a tent in his garden and had recently claimed to have invented a device that would allow him to control sound with his mind.
In April 2008, Mr Garrido registered a corporation called God’s Desire at his home address. He also writes a blog called Voices Revealed on which he says that “the Creator has given me the ability to speak in the tongue of angels in order to provide a wake-up call that will in time include the salvation of the entire world”.
Ms Dugard reappeared when Mr Garrido, a registered sex offender on lifetime parole, was ordered to visit a police station after a report of suspicious activity involving him and two young children the previous day. He took the two children with him, along with Ms Dugard.
“The diligent questioning and follow-up by the parolee’s agent led to Garrido revealing his kidnapping,” the police department said in a statement last night.
Mr Garrido, who is on lifetime parole, gave a rambling, sometimes incoherent phone interview to KCRA-TV from the El Dorado County jail yesterday in which he said he had not admitted to kidnapping and that he had turned his life around since the birth of his first daughter 15 years ago.
“Wait until you hear the story of what took place at this house,” Mr Garrido said. “You are going to be completely impressed. It’s a disgusting thing that took place with me at the beginning. But I turned my life completely around and to be able to understand that, you have to start there.”
Police said that the backyard compound where Mr Garrido allegedly kept Ms Dugard and the two children had electricity from extension cords and a rudimentary outhouse and shower, “as if you were camping”.
Mr Kollar said that a parole officer who had visited Mr Garrido’s house previously had not noticed anything amiss because the compound was well concealed by shrubs, rubbish bins and a tarpaulin.
“You can’t see over the fence with the shrubbery and the trees. You can’t see the structures,” Mr Kollar said.
Mr Garrido’s compound was in Antioch, a city of 100,000 about 170 miles from Ms Dugard’s family home in South Lake Tahoe. Yesterday the house was cordoned off with police tape as it was searched by FBI agents and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department.
“In the last couple of years he started getting into this strange religious stuff. We kind of felt sorry for him,” said Tim Allen, president of East County Glass and Window in Pittsburgh, who has bought business cards and letterhead from Mr Garrido’s printing business for the past decade.
ReplyDeleteThree times in recent years, Mr Garrido had arrived at Mr Allen’s showroom with two “cute little blonde girls” in tow, he said.
Mr Garrido would talk about quitting the printing business to preach full time and gave the impression he was setting up a church.
“He rambled. It made no sense,” Mr Allen said, adding that he had no inkling of Mr Garrido’s criminal record.
“We never thought anything bad about the guy,” Mr Allen said. “He was just kind of nutty.”
In his interview with KCRA -TV Mr Garrido also claimed that he had left important documents that would reveal key information about the case with an agent at the FBI office in San Francisco.
“What’s kept me busy the last several years is I’ve completely turned my life around,” Mr Garrido said. “And you’re going to find the most powerful story coming from the witness, the victim – you wait. If you take this a step at a time, you’re going to fall over backwards and in the end, you’re going to find the most powerful heart-warming story.”
Ms Dugard’s mother, Terry Probyn, was reunited with her daughter yesterday, but she has not yet made a public statement.
However, her stepfather, Carl Probyn, 60, said of the kidnapping: “It broke my marriage up. I’ve gone through hell. I mean, I’m a suspect up until yesterday.”
Mr Probyn was standing in his family driveway on June 10, 1991, when he saw a grey car pull up beside the bus stop where his stepdaughter was waiting for the school bus. She was snatched and the car sped off.
In spite of a massive search operation, several witnesses, and the fact that Jaycee was wearing a distinctive pink jacket and pink trousers, no arrests were made, and Jaycee was never found. Police never gave up on the case, though, and as recently as 2002 a former priest’s home was raided in connection with the little girl’s disappearance.
Mr Probyn now lives in Orange County, and Mrs Probyn lives in the LA suburb of Riverside. The couple have another daughter, Shayna, who is 19 years old.
Mr Probyn told local reporters yesterday that he had received a phone call from his daughter at about 4pm on Wednesday. “Mom has something to say to you,” she said. “Are you sitting down?” Then his wife came on the line and said, through tears, “They found Jaycee. She’s alive.”
Mr Probyn, a Vietnam veteran, said that his wife had been told the news by an FBI agent who called her at work. At first, she thought it was a prank call. Then the agent put Jaycee on the phone.
“My wife talked with her and is convinced she is Jaycee,” Mr Probyn said. “Jaycee remembers everything.”

In amongst the gloomy emails about Chris and Clare Godson we received in 2010 we extracted/edited the following communication from an English builder living in St. George la Pouge who had met Chris and Clare Godson at a party.

Trying, desperately, to keep his identity from discovery by the Godsons our interview subject confirmed:
that Godson had employed him without any form of contract (statutory under French law);
that Godson had not disclosed his employment to the relevant authorities and thus he found himself totally un-insured during all the jobs he had done for Godson T.P. ;
that Godson paid him a pittance for long back-breaking hours because he was unqualified and virtually broke in France;
our interview subject states that he knows the names of other employees since 2004 who were not registered with the authorities and not legally employed by Godson, our interview subject also states that he knows the names of two people who were below employment age and who were exploited shamelessly by Godson;
he also states that he had a terrible insight into the unacceptable working practices of Godson;
our interview subject states that Godson invoiced for materials that were not used on the job and that Godson routinely lied about materials used! These materials would be "siphoned" off into the next job and Godson would make a great show of being generous with time and materials................................and thus lower the guard of the next client jst in time for another little bit of cheating.

The victims of Chris and Clare Godson had this weird look in their eyes like brainwashed zombies. They numbly communicated the fact that they had been shamelessly abused and used by this couple of charlatans, raped, torrtured and forced into prostitution………..

Depuis les faits sortant ne peut être réfutée, les stations de chef de file à des attaques ad hominem et immédiatement conseille d’autres dans sa sphère d’influence à ne pas être en contact avec l’évadé vocales.
C’est très bien d’une tactique de Clare filleul qui est connu pour avoir harcelé personne, elle perçue comme une menace aux Etats-Unis et en Irlande.
